He Said, She Said

I just ate lunch (re-heated some left-over pizza, actually) and watched a re-run of the defunct TV show "Becker."

If you're NOT familiar with the American TV show, it was on for a few seasons, featuring Ted Danson (from Cheers) as Dr. John Becker, a somewhat angry and abusive physician, who was actually a compassionate individual, at heart.

The episode, I surprising got to see, first aired on November 1, 1999, called "He said, She Said." Its where John's best friend came to New York to give him the "shocking news" that "he" had become a "she." Nicky was portrayed by the stunning Julie Caitlin Brown, who did an excellent job, by the way, in the role. Nicky had an extremely diffcult time grappling with how to tell Becker. Fortunately it all turned out OK, in the end.

Its NOT always like that. I had the unfortunate experience of telling MY best friend, years ago (when I was living as a male), that I was a Transsexual. He never came to terms with the issue and I lost a friend. Sadly, I'm afraid I'm going to have to tell a very close friend (of several years) that I'm Pre-Op. I guess that's why this particular episode struck a nerve today.

Elise says its all gonna be OK, no matter what. At least I have her to give me her kindness and support. But then, we've been together (and through alot) for along time.
